Stay ahead of fraudsters
OneApp Lifestyle partners with regulated institutions to keep your funds safe. However, fraudsters in Kenya are increasingly sophisticated. Here's how to identify and prevent scams.
Check if Wunna is really calling
We've introduced "OneApp Call Status". If you get a call claiming to be from OneApp, open the app, go to Privacy & Security. It will show if we are currently on a call with you.
Common Scams in Kenya
1. Mobile Money Spoofing & reversals
Fraudsters may send a fake confirmation text and then call you asking for a reversal. Always check your actual balance in the OneApp or mobile money app before taking action.
2. "Kamiti" / Social Engineering
Scammers often pose as CBK representatives or telecom agents, claiming your account is "being updated" or "blocked". They will ask for your PIN or OTP. OneApp will NEVER ask for your PIN or OTP.
3. Facebook/TikTok Investment Scams
Be wary of posts promising "guaranteed 100% returns" in 24 hours via "Wunna Trading" or similar. These are always scams. Legitimate investments never happen via DM or Telegram groups.
If you've been targeted
Time is of the essence. If you've shared your details or sent money to a fraudster, do the following immediately:
Open OneApp and use the Freeze Account feature.
Contact our 24/7 priority emergency line in-app.
Report the incident to Action Fraud Kenya or the DCI Cybercrime Unit.
